Rathaus Schöneberg Flohmarkt

This weekly flea market is set on the famous square where JFK announced he was a Berliner donut ("Ich bin ein Berliner"). It's full of locals and has a mix of vintage clothes, furniture, nick knacks and the obligatory Berlin junk stalls. Need a broken drill, anyone?

Worth a visit if you like to rummage and want to avoid the tourists at Mauerpark. Make sure you barter.

Local tip: While in the neighbourhood pop over to Mimi's vintage boutique (Goltz Str. 5, 10781 Berlin. Closed Sunday)  and Winterfeldt Platz food market (Saturdays only).

Humana

Humana second hand stores have a number of outlets across Berlin. The biggest being the flagship store at Frankfurther Tor. Over five floors they stock clothes of every shape and size from mainly the 90's on wards. For the vintage lover it's best to start on the top floor. There you will find a wide range of retro and vintage from 50's - 80's.

The highlights for us were racks of GDR evening frocks, over sized 80's bedazzled knits, polyester suits and fake/real fur coats at low prices. Feeling festive? In winter they have racks of Norwegian jumpers available just in time for Christmas.

Everyone in Berlin shops here at one time or another, so make like the local and grab a bargain.

Maurepark Flohmarkt

Mauerpark is Berlin's most popular and largest flea market ('flohmarkt'). Running along the former site of part of the Berlin wall, it's a great spot to hang out, shop and be seen.

It's all here - vintage clothes, vinyl, furniture, food, beers and even outdoor karaoke. Come and join the masses. It is better to visit the market in the warm weather. You can grab a beer, sit up on the hill and people watch into the evening. But don't let the cold put you off either. The market runs to capacity come rain or shine.

So, if you only have time to visit one flea market in Berlin, make it this one.

Prices are a little higher here and it's more crowded than other flea markets. However, it's worth it for the high volume vintage clothes, accessories and home wear you can find here.

So, dive on in and have fun!
